Our latest blog touches on some of the interior design and layout trends we're seeing come through nationwide in our home builds. Intrigued? Read more here.

Whether you’re building a new home and seeking inspiration, or looking for your next reno project, our latest blog shares some of the interior trends that we’ve seen shine through in our home builds this year.

THE KITCHEN.

THE ‘SCULLERY’.

Whilst not a new concept, the trend of adding a scullery to your kitchen design, still remains extremely popular no matter what the size of the home.

This kitchen feature is perfect for open plan living, allowing you to enjoy benefits of added storage, a second sink and a secret space to hide any clutter for when the guests come over.

THE ‘GOLDEN TRIANGLE KITCHEN DESIGN’.

When it comes to kitchen layout, the ‘golden triangle’ still remains our most-loved by customers, providing both an aesthetically pleasing and functional solution that works well to any sized kitchen.

This layout originated back in 1940 and was designed to allow for the most efficient use of space through positioning your three most frequently used kitchen elements

(stove, refrigerator and sink) in a triangle shape, as detailed below.

Having spent more time than ever in our own homes last year, it’s safe to say we all understand the importance of building a functional and comfortable working space where working from home becomes a breeze.

Whether it’s an independent study, or a cozy WFH nook, designing a space for those Zoom conference calls is a must-have for the list.

INTERIOR DESIGN.

Like fashion, interior design has many ever-evolving trends. Whilst we were once loving white washed walls, here’s what we’re seeing come through this year.

With the increase in consumer demand to shop sustainably, it comes at no surprise that we’re seeing a rise in more natural elements, materials and furnishings used throughout homes. This tonal and earthy colour palette was popular last year and continues to be in hot demand this year.

Whether it’s through arched mirrors, shaped feature vases, curved furniture or rounded lighting features, this trend of playful wavy shapes, inspired by the 60’s and 70’s is back with its own twist.

Say goodbye to dark spaces and dim lighting because 2021 is all about creating spaces full of natural light.

Take advantage of ranch slider or bi-fold doors and invite an indoor/outdoor flow to your home, or level up and add ceiling-to-floor windows to your home design.

I built my home during 2021/22 with Latitude homes and can't say enough about the service by their team, Ross and Lee Hughey going over and beyond expectations. I have no hesitation in recommending them.

We are in the process of building our new home with Alix, Cameron and Amanda. They are great to work with - they keep us in the loop of what is happening, they accommodate all of our changes and use good quality products! We can't wait to move into our dream home!

We are currently building with Latitude Homes Whangarei and we are beyond thrilled with the whole process to date. We cannot fault Haimona and his team, we have really appreciated their honest and excellent communication throughout some tough times in the building industry lately. Haimona and Jamie always answer their phone and we have never felt they are too busy for our questions. Our new home is looking amazing and I would highly recommend to anybody looking to build.

We chose Latitude Homes King Country for our first new build and couldn't be happier! Right from the start Ross and Lee were an absolute pleasure to deal with. They are incredibly knowledgeable, experienced and were more than willing to support us on our new build journey. Communication was fantastic with weekly updates keeping us in the loop all the way through. The attention to detail was excellent. We highly recommend the Latitude King Country Team to anyone considering building. Thank you so very much!

We recently had the pleasure of building our home with Latitude Homes in Christchurch. Albeit small, we didn't think turning our dream home from a graph paper floor plan 'photograph could be a reality. Gavin was professional and patient with us from the onset. Communication had a quick turnaround and we didn't feel any pressure when making decisions before signing up. We had some owner supplied items we wanted to include to feel as though we had contributed to the build, all whilst we were living in the North Island. Delivered on budget, Michael and his team 'worked their butts off' when we asked if we could move in one week early due to travel commitments. These people are the best! Let them build your home too. 5/5.

After selling our first home we decided to buy land in Waimauku and looked around for a building company that best suited our budget and what we wanted. After many phone calls and meetings with all the common building companies, Latitude Homes were the only company that ticked all the boxes for us. We are very happy with the standard of work everyone put into building our home. From the quality of materials used to the quality of appliances put into the house, we couldn't recommend them enough.

So once again, big THANK YOU to Mike, Gauri and team at Latitude Homes North West. We will be in touch if we decide to build again.

We called into the show home in Bell Block a couple of years ago. We were instantly entranced by the layout, the finish and the flexibility with the designs. We soon got to know Graham as we discussed what we could do with the plans, and how they may fit our site .

Latitude homes were absolutely amazing. From the first site visit, we were struck with the professionalism, can do attitude, flexible thinking and versatility.

It’s impossible for me to tell you how much joy we get from this home. We hardly go out anymore... it’s just so nice bring here, living in this warm, efficient and beautiful space.

We have just finished a new build in Taupo and absolutely love it! The team at Latitude Homes (Lee, Ross & Sue) were a pleasure to deal with - very responsive and excellent communication throughout the whole process. They kept within the quoted price (including variations) and the house was completed within their estimated timeframe. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a great quality home.
