How long does it take from deposit to build?

We often get asked the question "How long does it take from the first deposit until we can build?"

Now that NZ have navigated through the Covid times, business is stablising and heading back to normal. However, global events still play a part in our local markets.

Here at Latitude Homes we are working hard to minimise these effects with good communications with our suppliers and also just as importantly to you, our customer. We know the stresses that you may be experiencing from financial changes to family commitments and everything in between.

Clear and timely communication is critical to ensure we meet your expectations so you can have more certainty on exactly when you will be able to move into your new Latitude Home.

Every effort is made to ensure build times are accurate, however estimating a build time is very difficult during these times. Expectation of build times are ranging from 18 to 30 weeks, depending on size and style of home. This takes effect from the actual date that construction begins and ends at the practical completion of the build.

• Approximately 6-8 weeks for the plans to be drawn
• 4-6 weeks for the truss design plan and engineering
• 3-4 weeks for preparation of all paperwork for council consent application
• 6-8 weeks for the council to process your building consent

Keep in mind any changes to the plan during this process will incur additional time along with any resource consents required or complex sections requiring excavating and soil testing. Weather in some parts of the country does play a part, however we will be closely working with you at every stage letting you know the progress.

In general, you should allow 8-12 months from the time you receive your plans to the completion of your new home.
